As Ashgold Ghana prepared to roundup their preparation for the 2019/2020 season, the Obuasi based team arraigned an international friendly with a very strong youthful side hailing from faraway Abuja, Nigeria.

This game was hyped so much by the press, especially, knowing the Obuasi side were used to humiliating opponents in Ghana. They had a record of 8 matches with 88 goals scored for.

As the CAF center referee whistled for kickoff it was the Nigeria based side that started with the fireworks that led to a nearly early goal that saw the Ashgold side concede an early corner.

The Obuasi fans woke up to a classical combination from Michael Tetteh to George Gbe that gave a world class assist which saw Atule Joseph eliminating Frank Boateng before finishing to an empty net.

Coach Ricardo Da Rocha knew at this moment his boys were in for a very good challenge. He motivated his boys to push up for an equalizer that led to two world class saves from Braima Ibrahim of Galaxy Sports Academy.

The Obuasi side were full of frustration as the referee had to stamp his authority in this encounter with a yellow card to James Akaminko. A beautiful combination lead to a penalty kick for the Ghanaian side. The Nigerian defensive side were not happy with the referee's decision. Shafiu Mumuni stepped up to convert from the spot kick to bring back Ashgold to life.

The second half started on the same note as the young Nigerian side continued matching up the Obuasi side in midfield. The Galaxy SA young side showed they were fit enough to match the current Ghanaian champion side with good flowing football. The Ghanaian side was not able to convert the numerous chances that saw the Galaxy Sports Academy keeper bagging the MVP for the International friendly game.

Both sides saw chances of scoring more goals past them as the CAF center referee sounded his final whistled of the game.
